since i moved to chicago (4 years ago), i decided that i would focus on finding a style that was me. for years in missouri i lived in a world of two options: long or short. no color, no styles, nothing. i’ve always had great stylists or so i thought but perhaps that was because i was going in and telling them to do a trim. in my new life i wanted something different, i wanted to find how to wear this thing that hangs out on my head.
since then i started a photo log of every hair cut i’ve had. here are the highlights (and in the highlights there are no highlights, booyah!):

(bangs are hard in the summer. they stick to your forehead. bangs are killer in winter. they look amazing under a stocking cap)

(this is my lego hair and i loved it. a young asian school girl hair cut makes every outfit look polished)

(after years of playing with highlights, i went full into color with a switch to blonde. i still to this day rub how awesome this color was in the face of a girlfriend who “didn’t think it would be a good idea to go blonde”. WRONG! don’t listen to girlfriends they don’t know)

(after going blonde, i realized to have healthy hair you have to go shorter. this was the shortest i had ever had my hair. HAHA! i laugh at this now)

(i love blonde but it sincerely limited how much color i could put in my wardrobe. i’m a girl who loves her color and brunette just allows for me to go all out and crazy)

(finally i was ready to cut it off. ponytail? who needs it. this was my big moment of finally telling myself that my mom was wrong. i didn’t need all of that hair, i could totally wear it short! and i remembered earrings are great and people could finally see them)

( a little bit shorter now… a little bit shorter now)

(a little bit blonder now… a little bit blonder now)

(a little bit redder now!)

(red - was - terrifying! when it looked good, god damn it looked good, but when it was bad LORD help me! red fades like a crush in 7th grade, overnight!)

(why am i growing out my hair? is there any reason? am i crazy person? in the shower, i twist it back and put it in a mini pony and gush about how far ive come! in the year 2012, i will have long hippie hair… unless something else strikes my fancy before then. HIGHLY likely!)
